Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……..

This is for the ones who love to burn the candle at both ends!

Everyone needs their beauty rest, but some folks just can’t hit snooze enough times. And if you’re a superstar singer or a public speaker, or just trying to shed some pounds, sleep is extra essential. It’s like a secret power-up for your body, making sure everything is rejuvenated and ready to take on the day.

For singers and public speakers

For singers and public speakers, getting enough sleep is crucial for maintaining the health of their vocal cords. Lack of sleep can lead to dryness and irritation of the throat, which can make it difficult to speak or sing. In addition, sleep deprivation can cause fatigue and decreased energy levels, which can negatively impact performance. By getting sufficient sleep, individuals can ensure that their voices are in top condition, which can help them to deliver their best performances.

For those trying to lose weight

For those trying to lose weight, sleep is also important. Lack of sleep can lead to increased levels of the hormone ghrelin, which stimulates appetite, and decreased levels of the hormone leptin, which signals fullness. This can lead to overeating and weight gain. In addition, sleep deprivation can cause fatigue and decreased energy levels, which can make it difficult to stick to an exercise regimen.

So, how to get more sleep?

So, how to get more sleep? It’s easy peasy! Stick to a schedule, create a calming bedtime routine, and ditch the caffeine and alcohol before bed. And, for extra credit, switch off those pesky screens and get cozy in the dark. And if all else fails, there are great apps (and many to choose from which just shows how common this issue is for everyone) to help you drift off to sleep.

My favorite is Insight Timer – free and very user friendly.

In short, sleep is the ultimate power-up for everyone, especially for singers, speakers, and weight-loss warriors. So, hit that pillow, and sweet dreams!
